The PvdH Colour Block (aka. Banker Black with Pink Lipstick), 2011. PvdH Silk Organza blouse worn with YSL lipstick
Excessive colour blocking. Ugh. With spring already a few good weeks under way (hooray for the sun actually taking its time to shine in London), you would have had to be in outer space not to have read about a trillion articles, blogs, et al. on colour blocking. Gag. The whole thing takes me back to my New England (referencing America here) boarding school days, where I believe colour blocking was originally coined. Imagine a place where wearing a lime-green Lacoste polo with a pink cable-knit cashmere Ralph Lauren sweater was standard. Just add a Tiffany pearl necklace and you were straight out of The (Official) Preppy Handbook. (To the Stepford Wives in the making who might be reading this, please take no offence.) I am no hater of colour, or colour combinations for that matter, I just think that certain too-bright mixes ought to be reserved for tall, dark beautiful women in a remote sunny spot of our world. Definitely not to be worn with pale skin to walk your dog, however cute it may be.
PvdH and her long-term love affair with bright Christian Louboutin's. Worn against an impossibly pink wall (aka it was Photoshoped)

haha YES!
ReplyDeleteI think too azardous colours combinations would result in an inappropraite and inelegant look, but an unconventional colour, like a jade green, worn with something simly smart would add a lively, self confident nuance to the outfit...Also I think It would point out an attention for details...and the jade nail polish remind me of somebody :)
