PvdH’s Chanel Fall 2011 Ad Campaign
August 23, 2011 in Fashion Illustration, The PvdH View
‘A Silver Freja’ by PvdH, 2011. Pastels, markers (a pink highlighter included) and ink
Yeah, yeah… I know, the Chanel Fall 2011 ad campaign has been out for a while, but hey- inspiration doesn’t come on command (usually). And while it was the quirky-cat images of our darling Freja which drew the most attention, for me it was the image of her in a darling silver wig and fluorescent brows which did it for me. There is a rather simple explanation for this: I’ve been pining away for grey locks (or silver, if you prefer some shine in it) for a few months now.
‘A Silver Freja- The Close Up’ by PvdH, 2011. Pastels, markers (a pink highlighter included) and ink
Would I actually succumb to this trend? Oh probably not (I don’t think I have the diligence required to dye my hair just yet)… but a few months back (remember?) I got myself a pretty damn cool wig (it even managed to cause some shock amongst my acquaintances!)

Love your illustrations! And you're right, inspiration doesn't appear on demand, you have to patiently wait for it. That silver wig does actually suit you… If you like books/interior design: I have a little giveaway on my blog, feel free to pop round
Have a lovely day xo

As always your illustrations are wonderful and beautifully rendered. I love Chanel product but do not always like their ad campaigns (they did not ask us! ha ha)Helen xx
One of my favourite illustrations of yours to date. I agree with @helen, the rendering is just beautiful. I WANT ONE!
Very nice illustrations! I think grey hair can sometimes look very interesting on younger people.
Nice pictures!
OMG.. this illustration is divinelee x
I'm not one to dye my hair ( I could never maintain it), but the wig looks like a fun idea! You can definitely pull off the grey

oooo, I think you could totally rock grey/silver/streaked locks! You'd look stunning.
Beautiful sketch that I wouldn't mind hanging in my dressing room
You are very talented girl.Love,Patiencewww.justpatience.com
Paola, these sketches are beautiful! I know that I tend to use the same adjectives every time I comment on you illustrations, but I love them! On the grey hair subject, this shade has been very popular lately. I remember reading an article by Sarah Harris of Vogue UK that decided to go ‘silver’ and to be honest she looks great. I couldn’t find the one I was looking for, but this one is still interesting to hear her perspective: http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/beauty/article6861713.ece In any case, I support your approach: a wig is enough for now…http://notjustaprettydress.blogspot.com/
Do it! The wig works so can your real hair! I would seriously dye my hair silver-ish, but I don't think I can pull it off anymore, probs could if I was younger, grey is likely the only color I haven't done yet.
These illustrations are UNREAL. You have so much talent, my dear! And you're absolutely gorgeous – the wig is perfect.
