Fancy Pantsy for NYE
January 2, 2012 in PvdH's #todayimwearing
Fancy Pantsy for NYE. Well we are now in London 2012, and I thought I’d start the year with one of my New Years resolutions: show you more outfits & designs. So here are a couple of quick snapshots from the last day of the year.
Now let me tell you a little something about party dressing and the rule of “better be overdressed than underdressed”- there is nothing more awkward than to show up at a party wearing full-on cocktail gear while everyone else is in street-chic mode.
But whoever said you cannot do both? This winter I’ve loved being fancy pantsy- a.k.a. paring a fancy dress with some not so fancy pants (preferably frayed jeans).
Dolce & Gabbana dress; Seven jeans; Vintage fur coat; Marc Jacobs python heels; Marc Jacobs Eugenie black clutch; Miu Miu gloves; Tom Ford lipstick in Black Orchid

Happy New Year to you and all the best wishes for 2012! I like the mix you're wearing. Good job it feels more like spring than winter outside!
Love the jacket and the whole outfit!!You are stunning!http://maryfashionlove.blogspot.com/Maryxx
Seeing as all of the girls I was with on NYE were wearing pyjamas, I didn't really have to worry about the whole overdressed vs underdressed situation, although I always worry about that when it comes to events!
I love your resolution very much! I'm hoping to introduce a regular outfit feature to my blog, too, but we'll see… And I love love love your look very much (and the hair, and the smile, too
)Have a fantastic new year, darling! xxx

I am the same way! I love the juxtaposition of 2 pieces that do not seemingly go together. I like the fancy-smancy gloves! Super cute!http://khalilahskloset.blogspot.com/http://dolledup4theday.blogspot.com/~Khalilah~
p.s. love your fur! I am following you on bloglovin!
That fur coat is amazing! Your note about being overdressed at parties was how my first year or so in CA went — the overdressed cocktail look of NY or London just didn't translate to the casual coast! Hope you have a terrific 2012!
Lovely outfitLooking forward to the outfit postshttp://iartfashion.blogspot.com/
I actually really like your fancy-pancy idea! Must try sometime!>'.'<

liking the dress with the frayed jeans. ~ Rhoda
I know what you mean! I'm always overdressed at places and I don't even dress up that much. My friends go out in sweatpants and stuff so even if I'm just in jeans they say "WHY ARE YOU DRESSED UP" and I'm like "…because I don't want to wear sweatpants in public"http://www.closet-fashionista.com/
your hair is so long now! you look beautiful
i love your site!! love the fur coat and your illustrations as well!!xx, kristina
I love the concept of doing cocktail party/casual chic at the same time, because though I love dressing up, admittedly it is hard not to feel like an ass when you're the only one at a function who's bothered to do so. Your solution: interpretation: fur, heels, ragged edge jeans and a genuine smoke is a great combination of both looks. And I love the illustrations posted here. Now following. Hope you're having an inspired New Year.

gorgeous fur coat!
I totally agree it can get really awkward (read: an emotional scarring experience) being drapped in sequins when everyone else is dressed downtown chic.Love your NYE outfit.
