The Denim Vest, Jacket (et al.). Last week I told you a bit about the unpacking business and the (not-so-slight) shock of encountering my adolescent room. Well this week the closet-shift has continued and I encountered no more and no less than six denim jackets and a vest dating back to my early teenage years. From rugged, to slim-fitting, to acid-washed… why any person would need such a wide array confounds me.
But then again (after reminiscing much), I recalled how I was totally doing the denim-on-demin look (like pretty much every day). #Cringe
Thus the reason why, perhaps, I had been so hesitant on engaging (on any level whatsoever) in the current denim fad.
That was, however, until I tried on the denim vest with a feminine fuchsia skirt. #InstantLove

What a beautiful illustration!! What an amazing talent you have! I, too, tried to avoid the denim on denim trend (and various of the crazy washes and styles that are out now), but I'm slowly getting drawn in.
I'm not sure if I can ever do the denim on denim trend (again!)
Oh hahaha, yes, I know what you are talking about as a former denim addict myself! I've saved almost all my old jeans jackets, but I must say sometimes they do come in handy for chopping off some sleeves! Love how you painted the hair in your illustration!

I don't know if there is a specific name for it (don't think there is, more like a novelty fabric) but I saw it around the Berwick St fabric shops in London. Your best bet is to go to fabric shops with the pic and ask. DIYing it with a normal hole puncher is just insane!
I like the denim on denim trend but I cannot say I like it in me.. only other people.. or perhaps my denim is so much a like, in terms of the color, that I feel like I'm wearing an overall or something like that… but the denim vest with fucsia skirt must have looked really cool.. awesome sketch!

Funny how things can come back in fashion, though I'm sure you wont feed all 7 Canadian tuxedo counterparts…I love when denim is paired with something unexpected like an ultra girly skirt.
