Mambo No. 5
July 30, 2012 in PvdH Designs, PvdH's #todayimwearing
Mambo No. 5. (Totally!) inspired by the colours of Mexico (remember?!), this silk shantung skirt was a tonne of fun to make from start to finish.
From the colourful silk-dying, to the (rather careful) assembly of the pieces (the stripes had to align, you see), to photographing it. It is one of those pieces which makes me smile every time I wear it.

wearing: PvdH (aka DIY) hand-painted silk shantung skirt, Louboutin electric blue heels, Cooee transparent bracelets, Gap tank

I am obsessed with this skirt! And paired with those shooooooes! You look so beautiful!

You made that?! Good grief, I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but god, is it stunning! Reminds me of a Christopher Kane piece I’ve seen (wanted desperately) online. Fabulous shoes to pair it with.
Thank you Emily! Yes, from the dyeing (+3 hours of steaming the fabric), to the sewing!
