(Slightly) Splattered
August 12, 2012 in PvdH Art, PvdH Designs

(Slightly) Splattered. Silk painting has (totally) become one of the favourite parts of my design process over the last couple of months. But what it also has done is awaken an inkling for watercolour and ink (after years of indulging in soft pastels).
The building up of layers, colours, and ultimately the unexpected result. Despite starting with a particular ‘vision’, the original concept often evolves as I work through the layers. And it is such spontaneity which I love to be able to apply to my designs.
I’m currently having a (pretty big!) splattered sort of moment. I love the dimension (and more casual effect) it adds to the fabric, and I will try to photograph the dress this fabric turned into ASAP (so help me pray to the Hurricane Gods to take a few days off this week!).

I can’t wait to see the dress! I’m loving what I’m seeing already.
WIth your knack for art and color I am not surprised this has become key to your design process. I have loved your pieces so much more since you began workign on the fabric from scratch.
Really looking fwd to this one as well!
looks gorgeous
Oh Paola I simply just adore the ‘watercolour effect’, and it looks beautiful with the splatter!
ps. congratulations on Mexico’s victory against Brazil in the football final!
haha thank you! Such an unbelievable victory! And even more if you take into account how much we admire and respect Brazilians in football- it was a real victory!
Oh its beautiful from what I can see this far! And hey, if the Hurricane Gods continue to hold their ground perhaps you can do some of your great overexposed photographs!
Well today it was raining cats & dogs as well… Since it is a long dress I am not sure how it will photograph indoors, but I may just have to resign myself!
Looks so pretty and very refined. I really love it.
Have a lovely week.
