proenza (me). During a (relatively) long train ride yesterday from Prague to Berlin, I went back to the beginning of fashion month: NYFW. And boy did it feel like a-ages ago… know what I mean?
I didn’t get as far perusing back through LFW (there was a nap and some Girls watching involved as well)(bless you Hannah)(and Lena Dunham too for that matter), but throughout NYFW I was totally digging (yes, digging) the polished, monochrome, and ultimately relatively ‘simple’ looks.
One of my favourite parts? The absence of prints. Heck, even Prabal showed restraint in these arena, which resulted in my favourite collection of his to-date.
But my heart really got ticking when I (re)laid eyes upon the Proenza Schouler collection. If it was love at first sight, it really was marriage upon second glance. The silhouettes, the fabrics, the (extreme) attention to detail, the hints of soft pastels here and there (I mean, lilac ostrich leather?!)… and the shoes.
The shoes. Elegant, feminine, and fun… but somehow still restrained. Not too over-the-top, but still cool enough to make a statement.
I’m digging this to the extreme.
